Clocking In
- Go to /employees/time-clock
- Select your name from employee list
- Enter your PIN or employee ID
- Select register/terminal location
- Click "Clock In"
- System records start time automatically
✅ Auto Clock-Out: System automatically clocks out employees after 16 hours to prevent errors and ensure compliance.
Managing Breaks
Starting a Break
- Click "Start Break" button
- Select break type:
- Lunch: Unpaid 30-60 minute break
- Break: Paid 10-15 minute rest break
- Other: Custom break type
- System pauses your time (unpaid breaks only)
Ending a Break
- Click "End Break" button
- System resumes time tracking
- Break duration recorded
⚠️ Important: You cannot clock out while on break. End your break first, then clock out.
Recording Tips
Track tips earned during your shift for accurate payroll and tax reporting.
Adding Tips
- Click "Add Tip" button while clocked in
- Enter tip amount
- Select tip type:
- Cash: Cash tips received (not in drawer)
- Credit Card: Tips from card transactions
- Optionally link to sale ID
- Add notes if needed
- Submit

Clocking Out
- Ensure you're not on break (end break if needed)
- Click "Clock Out" button
- Add end-of-shift notes (optional)
- Review shift summary:
- Total hours worked
- Regular hours (up to 8)
- Overtime hours (over 8)
- Break time
- Tips earned
- Confirm clock out
Overtime Calculation
Point Plus POS automatically calculates overtime:
- Regular Time: First 8 hours per day at standard rate
- Overtime: Hours over 8 per day at 1.5× rate (time and a half)
- Overtime rate is configurable in payroll settings
- Weekly overtime also tracked (over 40 hours/week)
Example
Hourly Rate: $15/hour
Hours Worked: 10 hours
Regular Pay: 8 hours × $15 = $120
Overtime Pay: 2 hours × $22.50 (1.5×) = $45
Total Earnings: $165
Payroll Reports
Managers can generate payroll reports at /payroll/reports:
- Filter by employee and date range
- View total hours, regular pay, overtime pay, and tips
- Export to CSV for payroll processing
- Detailed breakdown of each shift
- Compliance reports for labor laws
Troubleshooting
Forgot to clock in/out?
Contact your manager to manually adjust your time entry. Managers can edit time entries at /employees/time-clock.
Clock shows you're still on break?
Click "End Break" button. If it doesn't work, ask a manager to manually end your break in the system.
Wrong employee name selected?
Clock out immediately and contact manager. They can void the incorrect entry and create a correct one.
