Payment Processing Fees

Understanding payment processing costs and account setup

How Payment Processing Works

When you process a card payment, fees go to three parties:

  1. Interchange Fee - Goes to customer's card-issuing bank (Visa/Mastercard sets rates)
  2. Assessment Fee - Goes to card networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover)
  3. Processor Fee - Goes to your payment processor based on your merchant agreement
