Payment Terminal Setup

Configure BroadPOS + TSYS device terminals for secure in-person card processing

Terminal Options

🔌 USB Card Readers

Best for: Counter checkout, wired connection reliability

Plug into computer USB port. HID-compliant readers work instantly. Recommended: MagTek, ID Tech, Square USB Reader

📡 Bluetooth Readers

Best for: Mobile checkout, tableside payments, trade shows

Wireless connection to tablet/phone. Rechargeable battery. Recommended: Square Reader, Clover Go, ID Tech Shuttle

🌐 Network Terminals (BroadPOS + TSYS)

Best for: High-volume retail, standalone terminals

Ethernet or Wi-Fi countertop terminals for in-person device payments through BroadPOS + TSYS. Recommended: Ingenico, Verifone, PAX terminals

Important: NMI is for virtual terminal, online websites, subscriptions, and booking sites. Device terminal processing is BroadPOS + TSYS.

Network Terminal Integration

For standalone network terminals managed through BroadPOS + TSYS (Ingenico, Verifone, PAX):

Ethernet Connection

  1. Connect terminal to router via Ethernet cable
  2. Power on terminal
  3. Note terminal IP address from settings menu
  4. In Point Plus POS, go to Payment Settings
  5. Enter terminal IP address
  6. Test connection

Wi-Fi Connection

  1. On terminal, navigate to Settings → Network
  2. Select Wi-Fi network and enter password
  3. Note terminal IP address assigned by router
  4. Configure IP in Point Plus POS payment settings
  5. Test connection

✅ EMV Liability Shift: Using EMV chip readers protects you from fraud liability. Chip cards are much more secure than mag stripe.

Point Plus POS with BroadPOS + TSYS device processing supports PCI-compliant in-person transactions:

  • Card data never stored on your devices
  • End-to-end encryption from swipe to bank
  • Tokenization for recurring payments
  • Your processor and gateway providers supply compliance tooling
  • Complete any required annual compliance tasks in your processor portal

Fraud Prevention

  • Real-time fraud controls through your configured processor/gateway tools
  • CVV verification for card-not-present
  • Address Verification Service (AVS)
  • Velocity checks (transaction limits)
  • 3D Secure for online payments

Troubleshooting

Terminal not connecting?

Check Ethernet/Wi-Fi connection. Ping terminal IP from computer to verify network connectivity. Restart terminal and test again.

Card declined?

Terminal displays decline reason (insufficient funds, expired card, etc.). Ask customer for alternate payment method. Check your processor logs if all cards decline.

Settlement issues?

Batches close automatically based on your processor schedule. Check your processor portal for settlement status.
