Customer Management

Build customer relationships, track purchases, and manage loyalty programs

📍 Location: Manage customers at /customers

Adding Customers

During Checkout

  1. At checkout, click "Add Customer"
  2. Enter customer information:
    • Name (required)
    • Email (for receipts and promotions)
    • Phone number
    • Address (for delivery/shipping)
  3. Click "Save Customer"
  4. Customer is linked to current sale automatically

From Customer List

  1. Go to /customers
  2. Click "Add Customer" button
  3. Fill in customer details
  4. Optionally add notes
  5. Save

Customer Profiles

Each customer profile includes:

  • Contact Information: Name, email, phone, address
  • Purchase History: All transactions with dates and totals
  • Lifetime Value: Total amount spent
  • Last Visit: Most recent purchase date
  • Loyalty Points: Earned points and rewards (if enabled)
  • Notes: Custom notes for preferences or special requests

💡 Pro Tip: Use notes to track customer preferences (e.g., "Prefers text notifications" or "Pool size: 20x40").

Purchase History

Click on any customer to view detailed purchase history:

  • Chronological list of all orders
  • Order details (items, quantities, prices)
  • Payment methods used
  • Returns and refunds
  • Export to CSV for analysis

Use Cases

  • Recommend products based on past purchases
  • Identify repeat customers for VIP treatment
  • Track warranty periods and service dates
  • Process returns without receipt
  • Calculate customer lifetime value

Loyalty Program

Configure loyalty rewards at /loyalty to encourage repeat business.

How It Works

  1. Customer earns points with each purchase (e.g., 1 point per $1 spent)
  2. Points accumulate in customer profile
  3. Customer redeems points for rewards:
    • Discount on next purchase
    • Free product
    • Store credit
  4. System automatically tracks and applies rewards

Example Program

• Earn 1 point per $1 spent
• 100 points = $5 off coupon
• 250 points = $15 off coupon
• 500 points = $35 off coupon
• Bonus: Double points on birthday month

Customer Segmentation

Filter and segment customers for targeted marketing:

🌟 VIP Customers

High lifetime value (e.g., $5,000+), frequent purchasers

😴 Inactive

No purchases in 90+ days, re-engagement campaigns

🎯 New Customers

First purchase within 30 days, welcome offers

Email & SMS Marketing

Send targeted campaigns to customer segments:

  • Product promotions and sales announcements
  • Birthday and anniversary offers
  • Win-back campaigns for inactive customers
  • New product launches
  • Seasonal campaigns (holidays, back-to-school, etc.)
