USB Card Reader Setup
- Connect USB card reader to computer
- Reader should be automatically detected (no drivers needed for most models)
- Open Point Plus POS at /sales
- Process a test transaction to verify connection
- If card reader doesn't work, check USB port and try another port
✅ Recommended Models: MagTek, ID Tech, Square Reader (USB-C), or any HID-compliant USB reader
Bluetooth Reader Setup
- Turn on Bluetooth reader and ensure it's charged
- Enable Bluetooth on your computer/tablet
- Put reader in pairing mode (usually hold power button 3-5 seconds)
- Go to computer Bluetooth settings and pair with reader
- Once paired, open Point Plus POS
- Process test transaction to verify
⚠️ Note: Bluetooth readers need to be recharged regularly. Keep charging cable accessible.
Network Terminal
For high-volume merchants, network-connected terminals integrate directly with Point Plus POS.
- Connect terminal to network via Ethernet cable
- Power on terminal and wait for initialization
- Note terminal IP address (displayed on screen or in settings)
- In Point Plus POS, go to /super-admin/payment-settings
- Enter terminal IP address and credentials
- Test connection with a small transaction
Troubleshooting
Reader not detected?
- Check USB/Bluetooth connection
- Try a different USB port
- Restart computer and reader
- Verify reader is charged (Bluetooth models)
- Check for driver updates (Windows Update)
Card won't read?
- Clean card reader slot with compressed air
- Swipe card slowly and steadily
- Try chip reader if available (more reliable)
- Verify card is not damaged or demagnetized
- Enter card number manually as fallback
